Me and the missus were thinking about going to the Whitsundays for our Honeymoon but then found out that the time when we want to go lands on Schoolies week which sucks, so weve opted for Vanuatu instead.....and yes, I will be going fishing!

What a shame schoolies week is quite tame they put a lot on for them to keep them away from the backpackers that fill this small place every day. The backpackers keep Airlie Beach alive, this would have to be the only little town i know that has nightclubs open every night of the week so you have to be careful when we go for an early morning fish that you dont run over a drunk German towing the boat throu the main street.

G'day Adam
I'm heading to airlie beach in mid November this year for a bit of a fishing trip and a drinking trip with a few mates. I plan to tow up the boat, which is a 4.2 dory. I was just wondering where a good place to fish would be at that time of the year. I have visited Airlie Beach before but during winter so summer would be a new experience. I will probably head to the proserpine river in search for mangrove jack and threadies and for a few muddies. But any advice from a local would be fantastic. Would it be worth fishing around the islands at this time?? Or is there a reef closure in mid Nov?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
ACE

Should be able to clean with Coral trout around Grimstone Point, but shhh, don't tell anyone else lol. Also, Double Cone Islands for Pelagics and Trout and Sweetlip. Make sure you get a zoning map and fish any sort of structure marked on it or around any island. There's fish everywhere.
