Townsville bound
Hi all
Can anyone tell me about fishing around Townsville ?
Around the town itself , is there any fish to be caught from the shore .
Is there a boat hire place at the marina ?
any help would be appreciated

The creeks to the North of the town offer good land based fishing on the incoming for good sized Barra. If your heading further North, call into Kurramine beach if you have a boat. There's a place called the centre of the universe and if you sound out around the shoals and reefs there you'll pull in fair feed.

Hi All
Just so anyone going to Townsville knows , there is fishing from the purpose built jetty of the Strand . They are equiped with rod holders and cleaning tables with water.

Rock Walls
You may have better luck off the rock walls on the strand instead, floating baits in close to the rocks on hi tides and the start of the run out is best. Big jacks, fingermark, barra, cod and GT's.
