Anyone tried the new Shimano baitcasters with the casting computers? Opinion?

I was reading about the Diawa Tanacom Bull 1000 and 750FE which are for deep water fishing and have a power assist retrieve which runs on a 12 volt battery and a line in/out computer. I have tried to convince myself that the need for computers and such on fishing gear is a good thing but to date I have not come up with a valid reason. Knowing your gear properly is what fishing should be all about. I really hope that technology will not take over from skill and knowledge. The power assist retrieve was initally designed for people with disabilities who are unable to use conventional fishing gear not for some rich fat snob who is too lazy to work up a sweat.

I have not tried any of the baitcaster models with the computers.

I have a mate that has a " computer assisted" reel.He fishes 600-700m water and recons its a blessing after your 3rd check of bait.

I reckon they're a great idea for the disabled, but if your a fully able person you're probably being a bit slack and need to work on your pop-eye arms!
