Anyone tried the Coopers all terrain tyres? Opinion?

No,have heard some good things though, but in my opinion, you cant go past the BFGoodrich A/T's.

This is a topic close to me at the moment as I am about to replace the tyres on my V8 Landcruiser.

Am currently looking at the Cooper ATR's, - B.F.Goodrich All Terrain T/A's and Bridgestone Dueller.

So far the "feedback" on the Coopers has been inconsistent, some love them, some hate them (too noisy, too slippery in the wet onroad etc. etc.). I may add that my son has them on his Hilux SR5 and seems happy with them.

B.F.Goodrich (often regarded in the past as the "cream" of Off Road tyres), apparently now made in a different factory (different country) and I'm told are no where near as good as they used to be.

Had Duellers on my previous vehicle (Nissan Patrol) and although I only had it for about 18 months with them on before I sold it, I DID like them.

For me at the moment I am leaning toward the Bridgestone Dueller A/T D694 which looks like a pretty good tyre.

Incidentally, my usage is approx 70% bitumen, 30% off road (mainly gravel/rough tracks etc).

Will be watching carefully for any more comments/opinions as I will be making my decision within the next month. Cheers.

A good topic Matt - which tyres for which vehicles.

My previous vehicle was a GQ Patrol and I couldn't go wrong with Bridgestone Dueller A/T's (besides staking a couple of side walls). When i purchased my Dual cab Hilux (and then running cheese cutters instead of fats) I tried these and had no luck - a couple of blow outs and dozens of punctures. I have tried a couple of brands since, Coopers being one but was only averaging 30,000kms. Found Hercules Terra Trac's good but having trouble getting these at the moment - ave 45,000kms. Currently running Mickey Thompson - Baja Radial MTX's which are going OK after 10,000ks. Just to confuse you a bit more a bloke at work has the same model hilux and is getting over 50,000ks a set but mainly does bitumen and dirt roads - not much offroad.

My Pajero is currently running BF Goodrich AT's which I am very unhappy with as they are very noisy on the road and slide around a bit in the wet. My old GQ had the old model Dueller AT's and I found them a great all round tyre. All the 4x4's at work run the new model Dueller AT's which have larger beading, deeper tread and reinforced sidewalls. The work trucks are used off road, both bush and sand and at high speed on bituman. They hold the road well at speed in both wet and dry and are fairly quiet. The only thing I have found is that they wear quickly. We average about 15-20 000ks per set. But that is mainly due to the way the trucks are driven. I was getting about 40 000ks per set on the GQ.

Yesterday I had the 10K balance, alignment etc done on my Cooper ATR.

Most of those Km were conceded in the drive to Katherine from Brisbane towing an Outback Jayco.

I am quite happy with these and have had no problems with them in the wet or at speed. I am yet to take them off road however so cannot comment on their durability in that capability.

As I fitted them to a 120 Prado, I chose to stick with the standard size of 265/65/17, and this size is only available in the P construction. I would have preferred a LT construction, however I can say no bad things about the P build tyres that I'm running at the moment......even after towing a van over the distance from Qld.
